Basic context of the book- when was it written etc
Authors thesis-what is his/ her basic argument? What point are they trying to prove
Their main arguments ( chapter headings are helpful for this)
Choose a couple of the main arguments they make and critique them-
Are the examples valid/ relevant/ compelling
Do they miss out/ provide important information
What are the politics/ policies involved
Have their findings been verified by other in their field?
Is there a point/ argument you take issue with? Why?
Overall value of the book to the field of study
