1. Step one is to find an area of interest within the field of psychology. Remember, the field applies to just about anything, so find a topic that interested you and that you want to learn more about. The topic could be related to your future/current career or a personal situation you have gone through or are going through right now. No matter what, it needs to be important and relevant to YOU! The options are limitless.

2. Perform the necessary research to produce a paper that details your findings. The expectation is that you find several sources of information, but you need at least one primary source, peer reviewed journal article on the topic. The library is your best resource to access these often pricey articles (they are free to Foothill students via the library subscriptions). Books, blogs, podcasts are also good resources, but take what you find there with a grain of salt and make sure you dedicate 500-1000 words to your main article.
As a bonus, add an informational interview to the paper. Identify an expert in the field, schedule a time to meet/chat with them and add this information for the most current and application based viewpoint on your topic. Providing this effort will take your paper to the next level!

3. Detail these findings in an academic paper of 2000-3000 word count in APA style with references.
