Essay #2: Exploratory
For this essay, Id like you to choose one of the 5 articles we have read since you all completed the first essay. This chosen article will be your primary source. Then, Id like you to choose a topic or idea based on one of these articles, and write about your perception/experience of your chosen topic, coupled with what you learned from your chosen article. Instead of a thesis statement, you will explain how the chosen article did or did not change your perspective on the issue, and you will present a question, or questions, that the article left you with.
Your second paragraph may be a brief explanation of what you decided to research to learn more about the topic, and why you decided to research those things. You will finish the paragraph with an introduction to your 1st secondary source. Your third paragraph will be an explanation of what this secondary source taught you about your chosen topic, and how it does or does not help to answer some of the questions you presented at the end of your introduction. Your fourth paragraph will describe what you learned from your 2nd secondary source, and will similarly explain how this new article does or does not provide further answers to the questions you presented at the end of your introduction.
Your conclusion will discuss how all of this information has changed, or reinforced, your understanding of your chosen topic. You will describe how it has all come together to answer your questions, or how it has failed to answer your questions, or how it has answered some questions but raised other questions.
