Position Paper Guidelines:
–You can either choose one text and engage with it closely, or several texts and build conceptual connections between then through a question or a concept.
–Define a specific topic/question/perspective in relation to a particular text or texts (if you are comparing concepts).
–Avoid providing long summaries of the texts, and instead be as succinct as possible.
–Offer a close reading of the passages you are engaging through your question/concept/perspective.
–Avoid generalizations.
–Avoid declarative statements and unsubstantiated opinion: always provide an evidence to back up your claims.
–Stay close to the text, but do not shy away from synthesizing ideas from various readings, or various passages of one text.
–Be as specific as possible.
