This assignment is different than the others you have done so far this semester. The best way to think of it is a FANCY Works Cited page. This assignment will pair with your Research Essay, but I am having you do this first. You will use the same topic for the Annotated Bibliography and the Research Essay, so think long and hard about what you want to spend your time on these next 2 months. Check the Annotated Bibliography/Research Essay Module for help with choosing topics. This assignment is not as complicated as it seems, but there are a few important things to take note of, so make sure you understand what is being asked of you, and please ask for clarifications if you need them.
Annotated Bibliography Specifications:
Using the Academic Databases from the CCC website, find at least 5 sources that will help you write your research essay. Put the sources in MLA format as you would for a Works Cited page. From there, you will write an “annotation”. Each annotation should be between 50-100 words. Annotations include a mix of the following: Summary of the source, information about the author, details about what makes that source different than your others, an evaluation of the source, and other important information you feel like you should include to give a short, but encompassing view of your source. There is no page requirement for this assignment, they will vary in length based on how many sources you actually use.
Note: In other words, it is fine to put more than 5 sources into your Annotated Bibliography if you think you might need them for your essay. It’s actually better to do this because if you find more sources after you have turned in your Annotated, then you must put them on a Works Cited page when you turn in your Research Essay. If you put all possible sources on the Annotated, then you won’t have to submit a Works Cited page with your Research Essay.
