Criteria (rubric):

– do NOT write summaries, except where noted

– include vocabulary, terms, and concepts from the text and lectures

Your lyric analysis would adhere to this criteria, plus your original viewpoint of the
importance and meaning of the lyrics of a song you have chosen.  This analysis might include any or all of the following approaches:

– what is the significance of the general meaning of the lyrics, to you

–  what are some specific examples of phrases or lines from the song that support your viewpoint

– what musical terms or concepts, from the text, can you include in this discussion of the song

–  the focus should mainly be the lyrics, but can include the impact of the music genre on the lyrics

    Example:  Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” – how does the incessant beat enhance the content of the lyrics.
