POSITION PAPER TOPIC (5-7 pages): Using your assigned readings to back up your position, in what direction do you perceive the international political economy moving towards?  That is, do you see free market capitalism and democratic institutions as the primary form of economic and political organization? Or do you see state driven policies as the primary means of economic growth and development? If the latter is the case, what is the function of democracy under such a regime? What are some other factors necessary for policy-makers in the 21st century to consider (e.g., the environment, energy and commodity prices, global securityi.e., terrorism, piracy, on-line piracy, etc)?
