Final Project – Investigating Identity – Artist Statement:
Description:
For your final project this semester you will be tasked to create the following:
A tryptic on three canvases that is a representation of your identity utilizing any combination of techniques we have learned in this class.
An artist statement utilizing the vocabulary we have learned in class describing your choices in composition, color and why you have made these choices.
Based on the brainstorming we did in class you will consider the aspects of your personality that defines your identity.
Consider the following:
Traditional Gender Roles
The role that Advertising and the consumer play in creating and reinforcing gender stereotypes.
What qualities does contemporary society consider beautiful/handsome today. How are these standards different for men and women?
What role does ethnic heritage play in the formulation of identity?
What role does life experience play in the formulation of identity?
How do religious and political viewpoints effect identity?
Artist Statement:
For this portion for this final project you going to craft an artist statement utilizing the vocabulary we have learned in class describing your choices in composition, color and why you have made these choices.
Format Specs:
Your paper should be 1-2 full pages on length.
You will want to include an introduction paragraph, a body that flows from one paragraph to the next and a conclusion paragraph in terms of structure.
Grammar and spelling should be checked.
Include your name, date and title on paper .
SUBMIT YOUR PAPER AS A MICROSOFT WORD DOCUMENT TO THE DROP BOX FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT.

You will want to discuss choices you made in color and composition convey meaning. How do your choices represent your identity?
Be sure to incorporate art vocabulary that we have learned this semester as you describe your work. Please see Art Vocabulary provided in class presentations for a refresher on that. All of these documents are housed digitally in our online class for you to access.
Criteria:-
1- 2 full pages are present (not including title page. (20 pts)
Introduction paragraph, a body that flows from one paragraph to the next and a conclusion paragraph. (20 pts)
Grammar and Spelling is checked. (10 pts)
Choices you made in color and composition and how they convey meaning and represent your identity is discussed. (30 pts)
Art vocabulary covered in this course is used in a meaningful way. (10 pts)
