The learning objective for this unit is to research, analyze, and evaluate a legal controversy involving civil rights or civil liberties.

Question:

1Q: There are so many legal controversies that the courts must address.  Of particular interest are issues of civil rights and civil liberties. After surveying chapters four and five, select an issue in the news that you care about (for example, school shootings, sexual harassment, police brutality) and research the controversy.  Focus on the relevant Constitutional elements, Court precedents, and current laws.  What should be done to address the issue?  Write a three-page page essay of about 500 to 800 words.  Include references (100 pts).
