Question 1: You have now read about more than 20 dialects in your text and heard class presentations on those same topics. Those chapters focused mostly on differences among dialects of American English. What I want you to focus on for your final exam are the similarities. I want you to write a 3-5 pg. double-spaced essay (no more than 12-point type) focusing on and explaining clearly and in detail the similarities found among three or more dialects you have learned about this session. You must include an exploration of linguistic similarities (i.e. sounds, structures, and words), but you may also explore historical similarities and cultural similarities as well. The dialects you choose are up to you.
