III.            Read either (or both if you would like) Peter Stearns or Donald Kagans essays on the importance of history.  (Located in Modules – the Course Documents area – in the Essays on the Study of History folder).  Feel free to listen to or watch the audio and video sources in this folder as well. 

Write a brief essay (1-2 pages) on the significance of the study of history in general and/or your interest in history in particular.  Be sure to incorporate evidence from your readings in your essay.  In other words, be certain that your essay demonstrates that you have read and understood the sources above.
