You have to develop an essay of up to 600 words in which you have to establish how Neorealism and Neoliberalism (separately) would analyse/explain this situation.

Very important: this is not an essay about China-Japan relations regarding this conflict, but this is a case study to see how you apply these IR theories to a real context (so please avoid just doing a summary about the IR theories: I will assess how you apply them ideas and concepts to the case study).

The Wikipedia link should be enough background information about the case study for you to apply both theories. That’s not an essay that requires you to search for information but to apply the theories, so please don’t invest too much time to do it (be practical!).
