Think about the genre conventions of teen films. (See the assigned reading from the book if you need a refresher on what “genre conventions” are.)

In this reflection, write a response that discusses and analyzes some specific teen genre conventions you saw in both An Education and Lady Bird. Examine how these films share many of the same conventions, tropes, and motifs even though they take place in different times and settings, with different directors, etc. Why is that? How do the conventions you noticed function within the genre?
