Individual Constructivism Discussion
For this discussion, chooseONEof the three following prompts.
Prompt 1: Consider a time when your Kindergarten-8th grade education when you experienced disequilibrium in your learning. What was your existing scheme that was challenged? How did you assimilate the new information into your existing schemes, or accommodate your existing schemes to fit the new information? How did your teacher support this learning process?
Prompt 2: This is a unique time in that every continent of the globe is experiencing the same challenge with the pandemic. Everybody’s equilibrium is thrown off by something we have not developed schemes to understand. Describe one aspect of how you’ve learned to live with coronavirus–not related to studying/school–using either assimilation or accommodation (be sure to discuss your original scheme in your response). How have people in your world supported the change in your cognition?
Prompt 3: Think of an activity you were involved in during your youth. It could be a sport, a performance activity, or a club of some sort. What was a time when an existing scheme you had was challenged? How did you assimilate and/or accommodate new information? How were you supported in expanding/changing your existing schemes?
