After reading chapters 12 and 13 of your textbook, I want you to reflect on one of them by writing a 4-5 page paper. Please select one of the chapters, then identify and critically analyze at least three major themes presented throughout. More specifically, using explicit and concrete examples, you are to identify and expound on at least three separate topics covered in the chapter. Furthermore, I want you to pull in ideas and concepts from earlier in the semester. Using related examples from previous chapters, or even theories/concepts such as structural functionalism, conflict theory, symbolic interactionism, and the sociological imagination, is not merely encouraged, but required in order to maximize your grade for this assignment. Your paper should consist of a summary of the chapter, as well as a sociological analysis of the various themes you have selected. Although chapters 12 or 13 should comprise the bulk of your paper, the entire textbook is at your disposal. Finally, extra points will be awarded to those who can successfully bring in outside sources. All outside sources must be germane to the topic(s) at hand and emanate from a credible academic outlet (journals/book chapters, etc.).
Papers should be 4-5 pages, double-spaced, with 12-pt Times New Roman font and 1-inch margins. Also, you need to demonstrate writing proficiency at the college and university level (please check for any typos and/or grammatical errors).
