Write a 2-3 page essay that takes one side of the debate (you must pick a side) and use your own ideas
and the article to support your position. It is up to you to narrow and specify the topic (i.e. determine
the benefits and consequences of each side). Generalizations make for weak writing, so be sure to use
specific examples, details, stories etc. to make your points clear.
Your essay must include the following:
a logical and organized essay structure (intro, conclusion, body paragraphs, topic sentences,
etc.)
a clear thesis that takes a position on the topic
at least two quotations, correctly integrated into your writing
MLA formatting: double space your essay; write in present tense; format name, instructor,
course number, date, pages, etc.
a word count at the end of your essay
You may use a dictionary and thesaurus to write this essay but NO OTHER resources. In other
words, please stay off the internet!
