The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was proclaimed by the General Assembly of the UN on December 10th 1948, exhibits that people from different cultures can be in agreement on a set of “universal rules”.

As we continue to face this pandemic, let’s look at the ethics of those making decisions in the United States at a state level vs the federal level.

State governments are making major decisions still to keep people at home and closing businesses down. Looking at this from a multiplicity perspective- the numbers:

According to the CDC, the “at least 38 million flu illnesses, 390,000 hospitalizations and 23,000 deaths from flu.” (Link: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/index.htm )

and Compare that to the Corona virus: 26,959 cases in the US with 349 deaths. (Link:
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/)

Additional perspective – there’s a medicine for this – Japanese medication. Much like the flu, there’s a medication for this.

When looking at the moral quality of leadership – explore this at the New York state’s level vs the federal level.  We have some fascinating perspectives to critically explore.  Apply critical thought using this week’s course topics and scientific data to compare.

For example, for the federal side, when was the budget cut for the CDC and how does it impact the current capabilities of the CDC? Are the current decisions of the various state/federal government’s decisions necessary and ethical?

Then Give 2 examples on what you can do in the current COVID-19 situation to LEAD ethically? (1 CAN BE STATE LEVEL, FEDERAL AND LOCAL Level)
